Oliver
January 2009 saw the opening of one of London’s most popular West End Shows; Oliver! The show has been running regularly since its opening in 1960 and has never failed to entertain audiences of all ages.
The story of a young Oliver, loosely based on Charles Dickens Oliver Twist, sees him go from a poor workhouse to a wealthy gentleman’s home passing by an undertakers and a vagabond’s crime circle on the way.
This year’s production of Oliver has attracted a great deal of attention thanks to the BBC talent contest entitled ‘I’ll do anything’ which aimed to seek out the ideal person to perform the role of Nancy. Thanks to the television show Oliver has been even more greatly anticipated than when previously preformed on the West End. The talented cast also includes Rowan Atkinson, famous amongst a wide audience from him legendary character Mr Bean.
The famous musical has never failed to enchant audiences with songs such as Oliver, You’ve got to pick a pocket or two and I’d do anything. The songs tell the tale of Oliver as well as helping to lighten the tone of this 19th century classical story. Both the musical and song are known and loved nationally and internationally.
