Jersey Boys
The popular 1960s band The Four Seasons, once again comes to life through the musical Jersey Boys. It was written by Rick Elice and he composed the material by interviewing the remaining members of the band; Frankie Valli, Tommy De Vito and Bob Gaudio. However, as Nick Massi had already passed away Elice relied on past interviews to compile material regarding Massi.
The musical documents the lives of these four men on the road to stardom. The musical tells their experiences from all four view points of the different band members. The musical includes a variety of their songs including their massively famous hit Sherry, Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Cant Take My Eyes Off You, Working My Way Back To You and Bye Bye Baby.
The musical first opened in New York’s Broadway in 2005 and received much praise. Along with sell out shows the musical also boasted four Tony Awards and a Grammy for Best Show Album. The success of the musical travelled to the UK and February 2009 saw the opening of the hit show on the West End. The Prince Edward Theatre is the home for the musical and is taking bookings up until April 2009 but the demand for tickets is likely to result in an extension of this date.
