Dirty Dancing

The classic film Dirty Dancing has long been considered a staple ‘chick flick’ as girls around the world get together to enjoy the romance and seduction of the story. The success of the film was immense and it has remained popular since its opening in 1987. However, the anniversary re-release of the film resulted in the creation of ‘Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage’ opening in Australia in 2004.

The show was an instant hit and short after opening in the UK. The show was broke all records as it became the fasting pre-selling theatre show in the history of West End theatre. Tickets were nearly impossible to get hold of and were selling for big prices. However, the show has been playing for some years now and while demand is still high prices have come down; cheap tickets to see Dirty Dancing can found for around £15.

The classic love story remains high paced with the sexy dance scenes and provocative story lines which include controversial issues. The mix of high emotion and dirty dances makes the show such a massive success. The theatre performance of Dirty Dancing has surpassed all expectations as it breaks records and wins awards making it as popular, if not more so, than the classic film.
